A recently refurbished visitor centre in the Inverclyde town of Greenock is now safe and secure with a suite of newly installed SeceuroShield 38 roller shutters.

The Centre

Situated in the heart of Inverclyde’s historic water catchment area, the Greenock Cut is a scheduled monument with fantastic views and trails. It has indoor and outdoor classroom facilities and a mixed range of habitats for younger and older children to investigate. Owned by Inverclyde council, the centre is a much-loved facility that attracts many visitors, including schools and the local community.

The Project

In 2021 the centre benefitted from a slice of a £450k investment in Inverclyde’s regional parks. The investment facilitated an impressive refurbishment which included new signage, full internal/external decoration and an upgrade to the building’s security. Shutters were already present on some of the openings; however, they were in a state of disrepair and the security they provided was undoubtedly compromised. Inverclyde Council wanted to secure the new-look centre with new, high-quality roller shutters across all 16 of its window and door openings.

They approached one of our expert Scottish installers; Aardee Security Shutters Ltd to assist them with the project. The council had prior experience of working with Aardee, having completed various other projects in the Inverclyde area. One such project was the installation of 24 SeceuroShield 38 roller shutters at Whinhill Golf Club which is also situated in the town of Greenock. The building surveyor was impressed with the quality and simplicity of the SeceuroShield shutter and was keen to specify them once again for the visitor centre.

Deciding on the popular colour of Anthracite (RAL 7016), they loved the electric operation used previously and requested the same for this project. After completing a full and detailed survey for the made-to-measure shutters, Aardee Security Shutters submitted the order, and the manufacturing process began at our premises in Lancashire.

The Installation

Two teams of installers from Aardee Security Shutters completed the installation over two weeks in December of 2021. Despite the freezing temperatures and exposure to high winds, the installation went smoothly, with the made to measure shutters perfectly fitting each opening.

The Outcome

Boasting a fully refurbished interior and exterior, Inverclyde Council can now be confident that Greenock Cut Visitor Centre will be secure outside of its opening hours. They are also impressed with the visual improvement the new SeceuroShield shutters have made to the look of the building.

The Product: Tell Me More

SeceuroShield 38 is our best-selling roller shutter and is popular across domestic and commercial applications. The extruded aluminium profile allows for a strong roller shutter that can span widths of up to 4000mm. Available in a large choice of powder-coated finishes, the flexible SeceuroShield 38 can also be mixed with SeceuroVision where partial see-through slats are required.

Adding to the product’s popularity is its versatile choice of manual or electric operation methods, making it suitable across many applications.
