Vertico Garage Door Provides Solution to Strict Planning Restrictions

Location: York, North Yorkshire
Product range:  Side Sliding Garage Doors with SeceuroGlide Vertico

SWS UK Distributor ABI Garage Doors were approached by a client in Central York, North Yorkshire who was looking to install a new garage door to their newly constructed garage at their residential property.

Located within a conservation area, the garage was subject to strict planning restrictions meaning traditional doors with horizontal or up and over openings could not be considered. As the garage was going to be used to house the client’s car, he was also keen to choose a door which offered durability and excellent security as the area had recently been victim to a number of car thefts.

ABI Garage Doors suggested SWS UK’s Vertico side sliding garage door which features a unique lateral opening which maximises on space and does not open out externally, ideal for the client’s garage which opens directly onto the street. Constructed from foam-filled aluminium slats which link together, Vertico ensures exceptionally smooth operation in addition to offering enhanced insulation within the garage.

The floor within the garage featured a man hole which was unfortunately positioned where the Vertico running track would need to be installed, however ABI were able to overcome this by making incisions on the track, either side of the man hole. This enabled the man hole to be accessed whenever required yet still allowed the door to operate smoothly. Vertico also proved to be the ideal solution to the unusual angle of the garage, which had one wall running at 72 degrees.

Upon installation ABI’s client were delighted with their new garage door. The discreet design meant his car could fit comfortably within the space yet all planning restrictions within the conservation area were adhered to.
